WINCHESTER, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A weekend outing in Pisgah State Park turned serious when a Connecticut woman was injured in an ATV rollover Sunday morning.
Officials say Jessica Carroll, 40, of Harwinton, CT, lost control of her machine on Old Chesterfield Road in Winchester around 9:30 a.m. The ATV tipped over, landing on her. A companion riding nearby rushed to help and called 911.
Emergency crews from Winchester Fire Department, Cheshire County EMS, and local police responded quickly. Given the severity of her injuries, a UMass Memorial Medical Center Life Flight helicopter was called in. Carroll was flown to Worcester, Mass., for further treatment.
Conservation officers with New Hampshire Fish and Game are investigating the crash. They believe inexperience likely played a role. Carroll had been wearing both a helmet and eye protection at the time.
The accident happened roughly a quarter-mile north of the intersection with Broad Brook Road on a section of trail maintained by the Mt. Pisgah ATV Club.
