KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A new Hypertension Clinic at Cheshire Medical Center is now providing local patients with specialized care for high blood pressure, according to a recent announcement from Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics Cheshire.
The clinic, which began accepting patients in July, operates within the medical center’s Nephrology Department and is led by Dr. Maryam Gul, Cheshire’s certified hypertension specialist. Gul said the goal is to make expert blood pressure care accessible close to home.
“Our clinic is designed to be a local resource for patients and families, right here in the community,” Gul said in the release. “We focus on early diagnosis, lifestyle guidance, and first-line treatment for high blood pressure.”
High blood pressure—affecting nearly half of U.S. adults—remains one of the most common and dangerous chronic conditions, often going untreated or poorly managed. In 2023, it was listed as a primary or contributing factor in more than 650,000 deaths nationwide, according to national health data cited by the clinic.
At Cheshire’s Hypertension Clinic, patients receive personalized instruction on how to measure blood pressure accurately at home, with 24-hour monitoring devices available when needed. The program also offers medication management and lifestyle coaching to support heart-healthy habits.
For those with persistent hypertension, the clinic can investigate underlying causes and connect patients with specialists for advanced care. When necessary, it coordinates with the certified hypertension center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon to ensure continuity of treatment.
“High blood pressure care doesn’t have to feel far away,” Gul said. “Our clinic brings first steps, lifestyle guidance, and treatment right here in the neighborhood.”
The Hypertension Clinic operates on the second Tuesday of each month at Cheshire Medical Center’s Court Street campus, on Floor 2A. More information is available by calling 603-354-6622 or visiting cheshiremed.org/nephrology.
