SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Two people were airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon following a three-vehicle crash on Route 10 in Swanzey Saturday afternoon, according to police.

The crash, which happened around 4 p.m. between Ash Hill Road and Sawyers Crossing Road, involved a Honda Civic, a Mazda CX-9 SUV, and a Ford Maverick pickup truck.

Swanzey Police Chief Joseph Gonsalves said the preliminary investigation indicates that the Honda Civic, traveling northbound, crossed the double yellow line and struck the southbound Mazda SUV nearly head-on. The Civic then collided with the Ford Maverick, which had been traveling behind the Mazda.

Both occupants of the Honda were seriously injured and flown by DHART medical helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock for treatment. The passenger of the Ford Maverick was transported by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. No one in the Mazda required transport.

Keene Police and New Hampshire State Police assisted Swanzey Police with traffic control and the investigation, while the Swanzey Fire Department responded to the scene. A landing zone for the helicopters was established at Dillant-Hopkins Airport in Keene.

The names of those involved have not been released, and the extent of their injuries remains unknown as of Monday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
