MONADNOCK REGION, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Winter made its presence known Tuesday as a broad swath of heavy snow swept across the Monadnock Region, delivering the area’s first significant accumulation of the season. Parts of Cheshire County picked up between 5 and 8 inches, according to early assessments from the National Weather Service, with higher amounts reported in nearby towns.

Preliminary snowfall measurements, shared through local reports and social media posts, show a wide range of accumulations as residents dug out from the early-season storm.

In Keene, residents in the eastern part of the city reported about 6.5 inches, while those on the west side saw between 6.7 and 7 inches. North Swanzey logged nearly 6 inches, according to a reader update.

Farther north, Charlestown continued to see snow fall into the evening. To the west, Brattleboro checked in with totals ranging from 6.5 to 7 inches.

Communities across the region saw similar amounts:

  • Hinsdale: 6.6 inches

  • Marlborough: roughly 6 inches

  • Roxbury: 6.5 inches

  • Troy: 6.2 inches

  • West Chesterfield: 6.2 inches

  • Spofford: 5.8 inches

Higher elevations saw some of the biggest numbers. Peterborough recorded between 8.5 and 9.5 inches, and Rindge reported 7.2 inches.
