Robert Daniel Prud’homme, 70, died peacefully at his home in Swanzey, NH, on May 16, after a period of failing health. He was comforted by his family and friends.

Rob was born July 9, 1953, in Las Vegas, NV, to Daniel and Rita (Bouffard) Prud’homme. After his father retired from the military, the family moved to Swanzey.

He graduated from Monadnock Regional High School in 1972.

Later that year, Rob married the late Eileen “Pixie” Rhoades. Together, their joy was complete when they welcomed a daughter, Andrea, into the family in 1977.

After his wife’s passing, Rob married Linda MacKenzie, and they shared 30 years together. They both loved cats and they had many share their home throughout the years.

Rob was a mechanic and a machinist who had a natural intuition about how to find and solve a problem. Rob first worked for Burt’s Cycle Shop in Swanzey, where he was known for his expertise in motorcycle repair. He shared that love of motorcycles with his daughter and sister Denise. He also worked for Kingsbury Machine Company in Keene for many years and retired from the company when it closed in 2011.

Rob was known to his family and friends as Mr. Fix It. He was always willing to drop everything to come and help you repair any mechanical or electrical problem. The only payment required was lunch and a friendly bit of visiting while he worked.

Rob had a good sense of humor and never met anyone he couldn’t have a conversation with. He was a lifelong learner and was very interested in history, such as the trains of Cheshire County.

Rob also loved shooting sports and did a lot to promote people’s enjoyment of them. He was a range officer, board member and volunteer instructor for many local organizations, including the Cheshire County Fish and Game Club and the Connecticut River Sportsmen’s Club. He was a longtime competitor, alongside his daughter, in the Single Action Shooting Society. He made many good friends through this part of his life and it brought him much happiness.

Rob is survived by his wife Linda (MacKenzie) Prud’homme, of Swanzey, NH; daughter Andrea J. Novotney and her husband Billy Novotney and three step grandchildren, Blake, Tayln and Jaya Novotney, of Hampton, NH; sister Anita M. Flanagan and her husband Harry Flanagan, of Nelson, NH; sister Denise Prud’homme-Braley and her husband James Braley, of New Port Richey, FL; niece Kristen J. Braley and her partner Thomas J. Gardner, of Morrisville, VT; and several nieces and nephews from both his marriages.
