KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) For nearly a century, local radio stations have informed, entertained, and connected residents throughout southwestern New Hampshire. Today, that legacy continues through Monadnock Media Group, a Keene-based multimedia company whose reach extends far beyond traditional broadcasting. From local news and music stations to sophisticated digital marketing services, the company has evolved alongside the changing ways people consume information and businesses connect with customers.

Formerly known as Monadnock Radio Group and Monadnock Broadcasting Group, the organization is part of the larger Saga Communications family of radio stations. Operating from its headquarters on Stanhope Avenue in Keene, Monadnock Media Group serves audiences throughout the Monadnock Region and neighboring communities in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.

From Radio’s Early Days to A Modern Media Company

The company’s roots stretch back to 1927, when one of its predecessor stations first signed on the air. What eventually became WKBK established Keene as a regional broadcasting center, while WKNE-FM and additional stations expanded the company’s reach over the following decades. By the early 2000s, a collection of local radio properties had come together under Saga Communications’ ownership, creating the region’s most influential multi-media organizations.

Today, Monadnock Media Group operates multiple radio stations serving a variety of audiences, including news and talk, country music, classic hits, adult contemporary, and oldies formats. The company also owns and operates My Keene Now, a digital news platform launched to provide local reporting, weather coverage, sports news, community information, and business updates for readers throughout the region. My Keene Now articles and stories  crossed the million reader mark in its 1st year of operation.

Beyond Broadcasting: Helping Businesses Grow

While many residents know Monadnock Media Group through its radio stations and local news coverage, a significant part of the company’s modern mission focuses on helping area businesses reach customers through advertising and marketing.

Over the past decade, the company has transformed from a traditional radio broadcaster into a full-service marketing organization that combines radio advertising with digital solutions. Its services include Google advertising, search engine marketing, social media campaigns, display advertising, retargeting, email marketing, streaming audio advertising, Connected TV/Streaming Video, YouTube marketing, and website audience targeting. The goal is to help businesses generate measurable customer actions—whether website visits, phone calls, in-person visits, or online searches.

The company’s marketing philosophy centers on a three-step process it describes as helping businesses “Get Wanted, Get Found, and Get Chosen.” Rather than focusing solely on traditional advertising impressions or complicated and confusing tactics , Monadnock Media Group emphasizes a strategy built around the consumer journey and helping local businesses stay in front of consumers throughout their buying decision process.  As a certified Google Partner and Meta Business Partner, the company helps local businesses compete and win new customers by following a clear, simple and elegant strategy. This is especially important to local business owners as they are under attack by national and regional businesses in the more competitive than ever Monadnock Region.

Its growing marketing division includes media advisors and digital specialists who work directly with local businesses to create customized advertising strategies. In recent years, the company has expanded its Media Advising team to meet increasing demand for local digital marketing expertise.

Leadership Under Randy Cable

Leading the organization today is Randy Cable, who serves as Vice President and General Manager of Monadnock Media Group. Cable returned to Saga Communications in 2025 after an extensive career in radio management, sales leadership, and marketing strategy that spans approximately four decades.

Before coming to Keene, Cable held executive leadership positions with several major media companies across the country. His career included serving as Regional Director of Sales for Beasley Media Group in Florida, management roles with Audacy and Cox Media Group, and earlier leadership positions with Saga Communications in North Carolina and South Carolina markets. Industry publications have described him as a veteran media executive with more than 40 years of experience in radio operations, sales, and digital advertising.

According to his biography on My Keene Now, Cable has developed and managed thousands of marketing campaigns for local and regional businesses in the United States and internationally. He regularly writes articles and marketing columns aimed at helping local business owners better understand advertising, customer acquisition, search marketing, and digital media trends.

Since arriving in Keene, Cable has emphasized the growing importance of combining traditional media with digital marketing solutions. His approach reflects broader changes throughout the media industry, where radio companies increasingly function as full-service marketing agencies in addition to broadcasters.
