KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The City of Keene’s Public Works Department says Court Street Well #2 will be turned off Thursday, September 24.

The city says when a well is turned on or off, the direction of water flow through the distribution system can change. That may cause discolored water for a short period of time.

Residents who notice discolored water are advised to close all taps except one and run cold water for 10 minutes. If the water does not run clear, they should turn off the tap and try again after 30 minutes. If the water is still discolored after that, residents should contact the Public Works Department.

The city also advises residents who notice discolored water after washing laundry not to dry the clothing. Instead, they should contact or visit the Public Works office at 350 Marlboro Street, where staff can provide a product designed to remove the stains.
