KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Colonial Theatre has officially named its box office in honor of Jim and Joy Koontz, a local couple known for their dedication to the arts.
The Jim and Joy Koontz Memorial Box Office was unveiled following a $10,000 donation from the Kingsbury Fund, where the Koontzes served as long-time trustees, according to a news release from the theater.
This generous contribution is a testament to the couple’s passion for theater, music, and education. The couple was particularly committed to fostering a love for the arts among young people in the region.
Jim and Joy Koontz moved to Keene in the late 1970s when Jim took on a leadership role at the Kingsbury Corporation, eventually serving as CEO and president for 23 years, the release said. Over the decades, the Koontzes became pillars of the local community, volunteering their time with numerous organizations, including the Colonial Theatre. Joy, in particular, dedicated many years to serving on the theater’s board.
The Kingsbury Fund, established in 1952 as the charitable branch of the Kingsbury Machine Tool Corporation, continues to support nonprofit organizations throughout the Monadnock Region. While the corporation ceased operations in 2011, the fund remains a vital source of philanthropic support, distributing hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
