KEENE, NH – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued in the Monadnock Region as a late season storm system heads this way.

The watch will go into effect at 8:00 Wednesday morning and is set to expire at 6:00 am on Friday.

The National Weather Service is calling for heavy, wet snow and sleet with total accumulations of 6 inches of snow or more in some areas along with 3 inches of sleet accumulation and wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.

Poor visibility is expected on the roads so drivers should use caution and delay travel if possible. The NWS believes the long-duration storm will impact the Wednesday morning, Wednesday evening, and Thursday morning commutes.

Power outages are possible with this storm as well with the combination of strong gusty winds and heavy snow causing tree damage and weighing down power lines. If you lose power report the outage to your utility company right away, and if you come across any downed power lines do not go near them, and report them to police.

Locally, WKBK Staff Meteorologist Pat Pagano is calling for increasing wind with a wintry mix on Wednesday, highs in the upper 30’s, with wind and the wintry mix continuing on Thursday, highs around 30. He’s not ruling out Friday just yet either, calling for clouds with rain and/or snow showers, a bit warmer though, 40-45° for a high.
