KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow)  The Surry Village Charter School has taken a notable step forward in its mission to provide innovative education by securing its first independently-owned campus.

The newly acquired Middle School building, located at 146 School Street, carries historical significance as the former Tilden School building.

The acquisition of the building marks a new chapter for the school, which has been serving students in the Monadnock Region since 2006, according to a new release. The school’s leadership and community members celebrated the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, showcasing the strong support that made the purchase possible.

The addition of this campus is more than just a physical expansion; it represents a strategic investment in the school’s future. As an independent charter school emphasizing project- and place-based learning, SVCS aims to deepen its impact by providing enhanced resources and a flexible educational environment for students, the release said.

During the ceremony, attendees, including current students, families, and local supporters, gathered to reflect on the significance of the milestone. A ribbon decorated with handwritten messages from students was central to the event, underscoring the school’s commitment to preserving its close-knit, community-driven approach to education. The ribbon will later be added to a time capsule, symbolizing this pivotal moment in the school’s history.

With its new location, the school, founded nearly two decades ago continues to prioritize its philosophy of fostering curiosity, creativity, and personalized learning experiences.
