KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Keene residents will see higher costs at the city’s transfer station starting February 1, 2025, as the Solid Waste Division adjusts its tip fees for the first time since 2016. The changes reflect increased operational costs and ongoing collaboration with Waste Management New Hampshire (WMNH), according to city officials.
The per-ton fee for refuse and non-recyclable construction debris will rise from $169 to $178, while construction debris intended for recycling will increase from $150 to $156 per ton.
Additional fee hikes include:
- Punch cards: $60
- Trash bags (5–30 gallons): $3 for up to 10 bags
- Trash bags (over 30 gallons): $6 for up to 10 bags
- Loose trash exceeding 10 bags: $0.15 per pound or $300 per ton
- Brush disposal: $130 per ton
- Mattresses: $25 each
- Box springs: $4.00 each
Tire disposal fees will also increase, with rates now ranging from $5 for passenger car tires off the rim to $210 for loader or construction tires.
City officials emphasized that the updated fees remain competitive compared to private curbside collection services, providing residents with a more affordable waste disposal option.
