KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Last Thursday, Monadnock United Way’s Director of Resource Development and Community Engagement, Katie Gardella, and Monadnock Ford general manager, Larry Monson, joined the Good Morning with Dan Mitchell show on WKBK Radio to highlight the impact of the United Way’s latest fundraising campaign and preview an upcoming community celebration.
The event, set for this Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Monadnock Ford, will mark the conclusion of this year’s campaign and recognize key contributors to the initiative. While the final fundraising total remains under wraps until the event, Gardella hinted at a remarkable achievement nearing $1.32 million.
“The Monadnock United Way is here to strengthen communities every day, advancing food security, providing shelter and food, and creating opportunities for children and their families,” said Gardella. “Together we’re building a future where everyone can thrive.”
Monson expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the event for the third consecutive year, underscoring Monadnock United Way’s commitment to keeping funds local to support nonprofits and critical services.
“We’re doing this for the community. That’s something to celebrate. That’s something that we as an organization…can stand behind…We’re inviting the community…to talk about the good works (The Monadnock United Way does), but more importantly, the community that comes together to raise money and help keep (the Monadnock Region) strong.”
The event will feature catering from CC&D’s Kitchen, contributions from ACE Hardware, and a new addition this year—Frogg Brewing in Swanzey. Attendees can enjoy food, drinks, and networking opportunities while learning more about how Monadnock United Way’s work benefits local organizations.
Several key community members and businesses will be recognized with awards at the event:
Spirit of Monadnock Award – Laura Tobin
Enterprise Award – Belletetes
Trailblazer Award – Guyer & Sons Roofing
Summit Award – W.S. Badger
Additionally, Barb Wiesman, the new executive director of the Community Kitchen, will speak about the Monadnock Food Pantries Collective, a collaborative effort facilitated by Monadnock United Way.
While RSVPs are encouraged through the Monadnock United Way website, Monson emphasized that walk-ins are welcome.
“Show up. We got plenty of room, we’ve got lots of activity. It’s an open-door policy. Come on into Monadnock Ford and let’s celebrate the community.”
