MARLBOROUGH, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A second-alarm fire severely damaged a home at 134 Main St. on Friday afternoon, displacing seven residents and leaving the building uninhabitable, according to fire officials.
Emergency crews responded around 1:30 p.m. to reports of a fire that started on the front porch. The flames extended about a third of the way into the first floor before firefighters extinguished the blaze in roughly 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported, but fire officials said some pets may have died. Three remained unaccounted for as of Friday evening.
Authorities do not consider the fire suspicious, though the cause remains under investigation. The residents who were home at the time, all family members, were able to evacuate safely.
The fire prompted temporary road closures on Main Street (Route 101), which was shut down between Water and Terrace streets until reopening to one lane around 3:30 p.m.
Firefighters from Keene, Swanzey, Peterborough, Dublin, Harrisville, and Cheshire EMS assisted Marlborough fire and police at the scene.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched over the weekend to help the displaced family with clothing, housing, and other necessities.
