SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) At the Monadnock Humane Society, this week’s featured pet is Button, a 7-year-old female calico with a quiet charm and a heart ready to love.
Button’s journey led her to the shelter after her previous owner could no longer care for her, and now she’s looking for a calm, patient home where she can truly shine. She has lived with other cats before and would be happy to share her space with a feline friend. However, she prefers a dog-free environment unless the pup is older, quiet, and respectful of a cat’s need for space.
Loud noises and fast movements can make Button uneasy, so she would do best in a home without small children—just gentle humans who understand a shy but loving cat. She has no teeth and will need a lifelong diet of wet food, but don’t worry—she doesn’t miss them one bit! A predictable routine, a cozy space to settle in, and plenty of patience will help her feel safe and secure. While she may not be a lap cat just yet, with time and understanding, she just might surprise you.
If you’re ready to give Button the loving home she deserves, visit the Monadnock Humane Society during open hours on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call Adoption & Foster Care Coordinator Nicole Benn at (603)-354-4004 to schedule an appointment. Immediate assistance is available by calling the adoption desk at 352-9011.
