BRATTLEBORO, VT (MyKeeneNow) A local man is facing multiple charges after police say he broke into a downtown comic bookstore early Sunday morning and stole a cash register.
Brattleboro police responded to Ray Gun Comics at 125 Main Street around 6:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a burglary. Officers arrived to find the store’s glass front door shattered and the register missing.
Through surveillance footage and information gathered from nearby businesses, investigators identified 36-year-old Michael J. Smith of Brattleboro as a suspect. Police later located and arrested Smith the same day.
Smith was held on $200 bail and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court on Monday. He is charged with burglary, petit larceny, and unlawful mischief.
