Good morning everyone!
Here is the information for our Pet of the Week:
Sampson
Male | Shepherd Mix | Black & Brown | 10 Years Old
Sampson is a sweet and loyal 10-year-old Shepherd mix looking for a fresh start. Life has been a bit tough for him lately—his previous owner could no longer care for him, and he’s been feeling a little overwhelmed in the shelter environment. He’s carrying some extra weight (about 40 pounds more than he should be), but he enjoys going for walks and is ready to get back in shape!
Sampson takes his time warming up to new people, but once he trusts you, he’ll be a devoted companion. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a canine friend to help him adjust. He hasn’t lived with cats before, but with slow introductions, he might do well. A calm, quiet home with older, respectful kids would be ideal, as loud noises—especially fireworks—make him nervous.
One of Sampson’s favorite things is his crate—it’s his safe space where he can relax. He also loves being outside, playing, and soaking up the fresh air. He walks well on a leash and is looking for a patient adopter who will give him the time he needs to come out of his shell.
Could you be the one to give Sampson his second chance? Come meet him during our open hours, Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.!
Thanks, everyone, and have a great week!

SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – At the Monadnock Humane Society, this week’s featured pet is Sampson, a 10-year-old male Shepherd mix with a gentle soul and a big heart.
Sampson has had a tough time adjusting after his previous owner could no longer care for him. The shelter environment is overwhelming for him, and he’s still learning to feel comfortable. He takes time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he’ll be a devoted companion.
Carrying a little extra weight, Sampson is working on getting back in shape and enjoys going for walks. He gets along well with other dogs and would love a canine friend to help him adjust. He hasn’t lived with cats before, but with proper introductions, he might do well. A calm home with older, respectful children would be the best fit for him.
Sampson finds comfort in his crate, enjoys spending time outside, and walks well on a leash. He’s looking for a patient adopter who will give him time to come out of his shell and provide him with a peaceful, loving home.
If you’re ready to give Sampson a second chance, visit the Monadnock Humane Society during open hours Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call Adoption & Foster Care Coordinator Nicole Benn at 354-4004 to schedule an appointment.
