Beginning March 19: annual street sweeping will begin throughout the City of Keene, marking an important seasonal effort to clean roadways of sand, debris, and other materials accumulated during the winter months.
Motorists are urged to use caution when encountering street sweeping equipment. These vehicles travel at slower speeds and may make frequent stops. Please drive carefully, reduce speed, and only pass when it is safe and legal to do so.
Starting Monday, March 23: The City’s contractor, Gordon Services Property Management, LLC, will be mobilizing equipment and materials, installing traffic control devices and performing brush and tree clearing as part of the Transportation Heritage Trail Phase #1 Construction project.
The project limits extend along the Cheshire Rail Trail, roughly 300 feet west of Eastern Avenue, continuing east along Marlboro Street on the northern side of the right of way to the trail’s intersection with NH Route 101.
During active construction, portions of the trail will have access restricted in the interest of public safety. Additional updates will be provided at later date(s) as the project and specific construction activities progress.
Starting Monday, March 16: the City’s contractor, New England Infrastructure, Inc., will mobilize equipment and materials and install traffic control devices and construction signage for the George Street bridge replacement project.
Traffic lanes will shift, and at times traffic will alternate one-way depending on the location of active construction near the bridge replacement site at #44 George Street. These measures are necessary to safely perform the work.
Additional updates will be provided at a later date regarding the planned closure of George Street for the removal and replacement of the bridge.
