If you have any questions regarding any of the following information, please contact Keene Public Works at 352-6550.

Wednesday, April 22: To the City of Keene’s water users: Court Street Wells #2 & #4 will be turned off. When a well is turned on or off, the direction of flow in the distribution system may change and create discolored water for a short period of time.

Should you experience any discoloration in water, close all taps except for one and run cold water for 10 minutes. If the water does not run clear, turn off and repeat after 30 minutes. If the water is still not clear, please call our office. If you notice discolored water after washing laundry, DO NOT dry the laundry and contact or stop by our office at 350 Marlboro St. We will give you a product designed to remove the stains.

Beginning Friday, April 10: George Street will be closed to through pedestrian and vehicle traffic and detoured to allow the City’s contractor to install water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure as part of the George Street bridge replacement project near #44 George Street.

This work, and the associated closure, is anticipated to be completed by April 25, 2026. Traffic will be restored to normal operations at the end of each business day during construction.

Additional updates will be provided as the project progresses.

Starting Monday, March 23: The City’s contractor, Gordon Services Property Management, LLC, will be mobilizing equipment and materials, installing traffic control devices and performing brush and tree clearing as part of the Transportation Heritage Trail Phase #1 Construction project.

The project limits extend along the Cheshire Rail Trail, roughly 300 feet west of Eastern Avenue, continuing east along Marlboro Street on the northern side of the right of way to the trail’s intersection with NH Route 101.

During active construction, portions of the trail will have access restricted in the interest of public safety. Additional updates will be provided at later date(s) as the project and specific construction activities progress.

Year-round: The Public Works Director will declare parking bans as necessary.
