KEENE, NH – A newly constructed home in Peterborough was destroyed in a fire Monday evening.

According to Fire Mutual Aid the blaze was reported around 7:40 the evening of New Years Day at 45 Cranberry Meadow Road and crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the roof.

The blaze was upgraded to a third alarm and crews from Antrim, Bennington, Dublin, Greenfield, Hancock, Hillsboro, Jaffrey, Milford, Rindge and Temple assisted on scene. The blaze was declared under control before 9:30 that night, but crews returned the scene late Tuesday morning for a rekindle.

The two occupants and their two cats, who had reportedly moved into the home recently, made it out safely, and no injuries were reported. The nearly $2 million home was “pretty much destroyed,” according to fire officials.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by Peterborough Officials and the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office.
