The polls have closed, and unofficial tallies are in for Keene’s Municipal General Election.
The race for the five available Councilor At-Large race was tight for some voters. All four incumbents on the ballot; Michael Remy, Kate Bosley, Bettina Chadbourne, and Randy Filiault appear to have all been re-elected. The fifth appears to be going to Edward Haas who narrowly defeated Ashock Bahl with 1,333 and 1,308 votes, respectively, unofficially.
Former State Senator Jay Kahn won an overwhelming majority of the votes in the mayoral race, earning a total of 2,609. Bradford Hutchinson earned 245 votes, according to early tallies.
There were three contested races for Ward Councilor. All three incumbents, Bobby Williams in Ward 2, Bryan Lake in Ward 3, and Thomas Powers in Ward 5 appear to be keeping their seats for another term. Laura Tobin ran uncontested for a vacant seat in Ward 4, and incumbent Raleigh Ormerod ran uncontested in Ward 1.
The amendment question regarding the city’s primary appears to have passed with an overwhelming majority as well. They needed a simple majority to pass. The amendment will change the primary ballot to only include the races for Mayor, At-Large Councilor, and Ward Councilor. The second question was a related housekeeping item, that changes some language relative to the first amendment.
These tallies are all unofficial and come straight from the polls after they closed at 7:00 Tuesday night. This page will be updated when the City releases the official results.
