KEENE, NH – Two New Hampshire Main Streets were named among the top 100 most charming Main Streets in America.
Mixbook conducted a poll of 3,000 “seasoned travelers” and came up with the list of the top 100, with Littleton, New Hampshire at #77, and Keene at #80.
“America’s main streets are more than just shopping destinations – they are vibrant hubs of community and tradition, with local butchers and bakers creating a fabric of personal connections and local economies,” a news release said. “However, as the retail landscape continually evolves with the influx of more malls and online shopping, these cherished mainstays continue to face competition that could dictate their survival.”
Downtown Keene’s shops, galleries, and the Colonial Theater were all named as major draws to Main Street, along with Central Square, nearby Mount Monadnock, and the Keene Pumpkin Festival that adds “to its lively Southwestern New Hampshire charm.”
As for Littleton, Mixbook said their Main Street includes shops, restaurants, and the Littleton Diner, and said it has picturesque Northern New Hampshire charm.
