KEENE, NH – Students in the Mascenic Regional School District went back to school Thursday and school officials have already dealt with a safety threat.

In a message posted to the district’s website, Superintendent Dr. Christine Martin said early this morning the administration was made aware of a hitlist that was created by a student a couple of weeks ago while they were still on summer break.

Martin saw screenshots of text messages that indicated that a potential threat was to occur at Mascenic Regional High School on an unspecified date and time.

The school immediately contacted New Ipswich Police who were able to quickly identify the student involved and isolate them from their peers. Parents of students whose names appeared on the list have been notified. If you didn’t receive any such notification, then your student’s name was not on the list.

Martin says at this point she believes all individuals involved have been identified and the potential threat has been mitigated. She invites anyone who may have additional questions or concerns to contact her directly at 603-291-2009. Her email address as listed on the district’s website is cmartin@mascenic.org.
