KEENE, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Safety will host an event in Keene this week focused on hate crimes.

The event, titled “Combating Hate Crimes in Cheshire County”, is meant to educate and inform residents about hate crimes in the state.

“This forum will offer residents of Cheshire County a chance to hear from those who are combating hate crimes in our state and to be educated about how often these types of happening and where,” said New Hampshire Department of Safety Assistant Commissioner Eddie Edwards.

There will be presentations by New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella and Keene Mayor Jay Kahn; small group discussions with law enforcement, community leaders, and federal agencies; and an overview of what exactly a hate crime is and the Civil Rights Act.

The event will be held in the Michael E.J. Blastos Community Room at 400 Marlboro Street Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm. It is free and open to the public, anyone wishing to attend should register here.
