KEENE, NH – Fire officials in Brattleboro says one person was injured in a third alarm fire at a multi-family home as the snow began to fall Tuesday evening.

According to a news release crews were called to the scene around 4:50 Tuesday afternoon at 75 Clark Street for a report of smoke on the third floor and attic area. As they were responding crews also learned that a victim was trapped on the third floor.

The victim inside was located and removed from the building. They were taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with significant burns to the arms, hands, and airway.

The second and third alarms were requested quicky for additional personnel, taking the weather and travel conditions into account which could result in slower response times.

Primary and secondary searches of the building were completed, and all occupants were accounted for. No other injuries were reported. One tenant and their two dogs is receiving assistance from the Red Cross and the other is staying with friends.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Brattleboro Fire, Brattleboro Police, Vermont State Police, and the VT Division of fire safety. Crews from Guilford, Dummerston, Putney, Hinsdale, Keene, and Greenfield assisted on scene.
