KEENE, NH – SAU 29 will host a meeting this week to present the proposed changes to the ED 306 rules, Minimum Standards for Public School Approval.
In a notice to community members Monday afternoon, Superintendent Robb Malay said the meeting is open to the public, to help individuals learn more about the proposed changes that he says everyone should be aware of, to ask questions and provide feedback.
According to the New Hampshire Department of Education website, ED 306 rules require that schools provide a “broad and well-balanced” curriculum, that outlines district competencies for the grade 1-8 program.
Malay shared a draft document in the notice, along with a side-by-side comparison from a communication in April, that he says show substantial changes to the current rules.
He notes that the changes are a bit difficult to follow on paper and said Reaching Higher NH has published a video providing an overview of the changes.
The public presentation on the proposed changes is set for Thursday May 11th at 6:30 pm in the Keene Middle School auditorium.
Following the presentation, Malay would like to collect feedback from the community, and has created a form to allow individuals to do so easily. The deadline to submit feedback is May 19th. Malay will share that feedback with the Project Lead, as well as the Chair of the State Board of Education
