KEENE, NH – Crews with Eversource have spent the day repairing damage and responding to power outages as what the National Weather Service named the first significant Nor’easter of the season drops heavy, wet snow across the region.
As of 4:30 Tuesday afternoon there were more than 63,000 Eversource customers without power statewide. That’s according to the Eversource outage map. In an update spokesman William Hinkle said there are more than 800 crews out across the state working to make repairs and restore power, with more than 60,000 customers already with their lights back on since the storm began.
“This is a long-duration storm with multiple fronts, and strengthening winds combined with significant amounts of heavy, wet snow will continue to cause tree damage to the electric system and additional outages into tomorrow,” said Eversource New Hampshire President of Electric Operations Doug Foley. “We’re coordinating closely with our communities and public safety officials to respond to blocked roads and other critical safety priorities, and we thank our customers for their understanding as our more than 800 line, tree and service crews safely work to respond to issues and repair damage during the persistent challenging conditions from this Nor’easter.”
Eversource is expecting additional damage as winds pick up and the snow continues to fall this evening. WKBK Staff Meteorologist Pat Pagano predicts the snow will end around midnight.
