WASHINGTON, D.C. (MyKeeneNow)U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), has successfully secured more than $100 million in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) for New Hampshire.

These funds, earmarked in the bipartisan Fiscal Year 2025 (FY 25) government funding bills, will support 85 different projects across the state, addressing key areas such as affordable housing, child care, early education, workforce development, and substance use disorder treatment, according to a news release.

In total, $7.1 million will be directed toward projects in Cheshire County, including $936,000 for advanced EMS/Fire radio network equipment, $247,000 for the Keene Housing Kids Collaborative’s after-school and summer camp programs, and $2.25 million for the private nonprofit Walpole Village School.

“By investing in local projects across New Hampshire, we can support programs that help Granite Staters afford housing, access childcare, get workforce development training, attain the health care they need, and so much more,” said Senator Shaheen in the release. “As the annual government funding legislation moves into its next stage, I’ll keep fighting for these direct investments in our state and to ensure New Hampshire gets its fair share of resources.”

Other notable projects funded include $2 million for the Monadnock Affordable Housing Corporation, $600,000 for the Hancock Fire Station renovation and $600,000 for the Monadnock Economic Development Corporation’s “Bringing it Home” initiative, and Southwestern Community Services, Inc. will receive $198,000 for building repairs and upgrades to senior housing in Keene.

The funding is part of a broader effort by Senator Shaheen to ensure that New Hampshire receives adequate federal resources to support local communities. As the fiscal year 2025 funding bill progresses, these investments are set to play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents across the state.
