KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A section of Airport Road near the terminal will be shut down to through traffic and all recreational use for one week beginning Monday, June 9, as the city undertakes a series of roadway improvements.

According to a notice from the City of Keene Public Works Department, the closure will affect the stretch of road extending from just beyond the airport terminal to the entrance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The work is scheduled to continue through Monday, June 16, and the area will be off-limits around the clock—not just during construction hours.

Only local traffic and vehicles with authorized access to the Wastewater Treatment Plant will be permitted during the project. Pedestrians and recreational users, including joggers, dog walkers, and cyclists, are asked to seek alternative routes.

Crews will begin by scarifying the road surface on June 9 and 10. Intermediate paving is expected to follow on June 10 and 11, with final paving work scheduled between June 12 and 16. The timeline is weather-dependent and could change.

Drivers are advised to follow detour signs and exercise caution near the work zone.

The city thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the project, which aims to improve the condition of this frequently used roadway.
