KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Antioch University New England will remain at its longtime Avon Street location, officially ending plans to co-locate on the Keene State College campus.
The shift opens the door for Granite Valley Preparatory, a new public charter high school, to move into Keene State’s Joslin House this fall, according to a news release from the college.
“We are happy that Antioch University will retain its home in Keene,” said Keene State President Melinda Treadwell. “It is a vibrant institution, and its talented faculty, staff, and students bring their great gifts to our region.”
Antioch University Chancellor Bill Groves said, “We have so appreciated Keene State’s willingness to work with us and their flexibility in imagining various co-location opportunities on the Keene State campus. I know we will continue to make the most of opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of our communities.”
According to Groves, the decision to stay on Avon Street is a “natural fit” given Antioch’s academic programs in counseling and psychology and its ongoing partnership with Monadnock Family Services, which owns the building.
Meanwhile, Granite Valley Preparatory will move into the Joslin House on the corner of Main Street and Wyman Way. Chris Smith, co-founder of GVP, said, “We are thrilled that this new development allows us to hit the ground running in the fall.”
Treadwell emphasized Keene State’s broader vision for collaboration: “Education ecosystems that thrive enhance learning and social opportunities, maximizing chances for meaningful academic success for all.”
