(MyKeeneNow) – Arlie M. MacKenzie, 94, of Keene, died Sept. 2, 2024, at Maplewood Nursing Home after a period of failing health.

She was born in Hanover, Aug. 27, 1930, daughter of Archie and Genevieve (Trudeau) Case.

Arlie graduated from Keene High School in 1948 and married Warren MacKenzie in 1949. Arlie and Warren built a home on Upper Court Street in Keene where they raised their three children.

Arlie worked at the family business, MacKenzie’s Dairy, for many years. Later, she and Warren started the planning, development and construction of the Tanglewood Mobile Home Park where she worked until the park sold in the 70’s. From 1981 – 1994 she and Warren lived in Nacogdoches, Texas and were employed by Foretravel, Inc. Her work involved traveling throughout North America and Central America to plan and lead travel excursions for owners of Foretravel motorhomes. Her work took her to every state in America, every province in Canada, most of Central America as well as parts of Europe and China. In 1994 they moved to Polk City, FL where they lived until moving back to Keene in 2018.

Arlie was very family orientated and loved having large family gatherings at their home. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed saving recipes and had quite a large collection. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They held a very special place in her heart. She also cherished her many nieces and nephews, visiting them during her and Warren’s travels whenever possible.

Survivors include her son, Mark MacKenzie and his wife, Cindy, of Surry; her daughter, Kim Bergeron and her husband, David, of Keene; her grandsons, Michael and Matthew MacKenzie; granddaughters, Alaina (Bergeron) Hutchins and Lauren (Bergeron) Jesmer; her great-grandson, Gardner Jesmer and great-granddaughter, Madison Russell; her sisters, Ruth Daniels and Eleanor Ball; her daughter-in-law, Jeannine Snyder; her brother-in-law, Gordon Stone, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Arlie was predeceased by her husband Warren MacKenzie and her son, Lee MacKenzie; and her sisters Norma Garten, Janet Parrott, Patricia Melanson and Wilma Stone.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro St., Keene.

A funeral service will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene.
