KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella and Keene Police Chief Steven M. Stewart announced arrests in the case of a Keene woman who was found dead in Massachusetts last October.
Investigators determined that Justina Steffy, 31, died from a fatal drug overdose inside a Keene residence on October 13, 2024. Her body was later removed from the home and abandoned in Warwick, Massachusetts, where she was found on October 23, 2024.
The Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide, attributing the cause to the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, and xylazine, which had been injected into her by others.
Authorities have charged Andrea Martin, 42, with dispensing a controlled drug resulting in death, falsifying evidence, two counts of kidnapping, and human trafficking. Christian Torruellas, 32, is also facing charges of kidnapping and human trafficking.
According to investigators, between October 1 and October 17, 2024, Martin and Torruellas confined an adult female to terrorize her. Additionally, Martin is accused of confining Steffy between October 10 and October 13 for the same purpose.
The human trafficking charges allege that both Martin and Torruellas compelled another adult victim—whose identity has not been disclosed—to perform labor or services against their will through coercion, including threats of serious harm, physical restraint, and control over their access to addictive substances.
Martin is scheduled to be arraigned on February 12, 2025, in Keene District Court. Torruellas remains incarcerated on unrelated federal charges, with his arraignment date pending. Martin and Torruellas were previously arrested after police searched a home on Island Street in Keene around the time of Steffy’s death.
Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with relevant information to contact Detective Jennifer Truman or Detective Andrew Lippincott with the Keene Police Department, at jtruman@keenenh.gov, alippincott@keenenh.gov, or (603) 357-9820.
