ROXBURY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A busload of young skiers from Boston traded city streets for snow-covered hills recently, spending the day at Granite Gorge Mountain Park as part of a winter outing focused on skill-building and outdoor adventure.

Nearly 60 students and instructors from Youth Enrichment Services, a longtime Boston nonprofit, made the trip north to the Roxbury ski area for a full day on the slopes. The group participated in lessons and guided runs designed to help participants improve technique while building confidence in a supportive environment.

Mountain staff said the visit reflects Granite Gorge’s ongoing efforts to welcome youth organizations and expand access to winter sports. With approachable terrain and a community-centered atmosphere, the ski area regularly hosts school and nonprofit groups throughout the season.

Youth Enrichment Services, founded in 1968, works year-round to connect underserved young people in the Boston area with outdoor experiences. Its programming includes skiing and snowboarding in the winter, along with cycling, kayaking and leadership development activities during warmer months. The organization’s mission centers on removing financial and social barriers that might otherwise prevent youth from exploring outdoor recreation.

At Granite Gorge, participants took advantage of favorable snow conditions and instruction tailored to a range of ability levels. Organizers say experiences like these not only teach athletic skills but also encourage teamwork, resilience and a sense of accomplishment.

Granite Gorge, located in Roxbury, has built its reputation around affordability and family-friendly programming. Mountain leaders say partnerships with groups such as Youth Enrichment Services align closely with their goal of introducing new generations to winter sports while keeping the experience welcoming and inclusive.

Information about group programs and upcoming events is available through Granite Gorge’s website and social media channels.
