BRATTLEBORO, VT (MyKeeneNow) A Brattleboro man was killed in a car crash Sunday morning after his vehicle went off the road and struck a tree in Dummerston, Vermont. The Vermont State Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Thomas Stockton Jr.

According to authorities, the crash occurred around 8:48 a.m. on U.S. Route 5 near 2179 U.S. Route 5. Stockton was driving south in a 2014 Subaru Impreza when he veered off the west side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled down an embankment before colliding with a tree. Stockton, who was the sole occupant of the car and was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders from the West Dummerston Fire Department and Rescue Inc. assisted state troopers at the crash site. Weather conditions at the time were reported as clear and cold, and the road was dry.
