BRATTLEBORO, VT (MyKeeneNow) A local man pleaded guilty Tuesday to violating a court-ordered condition of release following a violent altercation that sent one person to the hospital with stab wounds and left investigators still working to piece together the events.
Police say they responded to a home on Winding Hill Road around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, May 19, after receiving a report of a fight. When officers arrived, they found that one male had been stabbed and had already been taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. That individual was later airlifted to another facility for further treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been released.
The other individual reportedly involved in the altercation, 23-year-old Trevor J. Lapinski of Brattleboro, had left the scene before officers arrived. He was later located, taken into custody, and processed at the Brattleboro Police Department.
While authorities have not filed charges against Lapinski in connection with the stabbing itself, police determined that his involvement in the incident violated a no-contact order previously issued by the court. Lapinski pleaded guilty to that violation during a hearing Tuesday.
Court records indicate that Lapinski sustained visible injuries to his face during the confrontation. Photographs were taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
As of Tuesday, no further charges had been filed, and the Windham County State’s Attorney’s Office confirmed that the investigation into the stabbing remains active.
