BRATTLEBORO, V.T. (MyKeeneNow) – A Brattleboro woman was arrested after daycare staff discovered a bag containing cocaine residue in her 1-year-old child’s sock, police said.
Kelsey Chabot, 29, was charged with Cruelty to a Child and Abandonment or Exposure of a Baby following an investigation by the Brattleboro Police Department on Friday.
According to police, the child was dropped off at the daycare that morning, and staff later found the suspicious bag, leading them to contact authorities. The child was not harmed.
Chabot was located, arrested, and processed at the Brattleboro Police Department. She was released on court-ordered conditions, including no contact with the child, and cited to appear in court.
Chabot appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. She remains free under the conditions set by the court.
The investigation is ongoing.
