WALPOLE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The Cheshire County Conservation District has named Britton Farm as its 2024 Cooperator of the Year.

This annual award honors farms, businesses, or individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to natural resource conservation and sustainable farming practices, according to a news release.

Britton Farm, a family-run dairy on Watkins Hill Road, has been a cornerstone of the local community since its founding in 1948 by Lawrence and Yvonne Britton. Now in its third and fourth generations of stewardship, the farm manages over 550 acres and leases additional land, focusing on both dairy and diversified products like Wagyu beef, pork, and maple syrup.

Larry Britton, the current farm manager, works alongside his wife Josie, their son, Wyatt, and other family members to continue their agricultural legacy, the release said.

The Brittons have implemented various conservation practices with the help of the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), focusing on soil health, water quality, and energy efficiency.

The Brittons’ innovative approaches, including no-till farming and renewable energy projects, underscore their commitment to sustainability.

The Cheshire County Conservation District will celebrate the Brittons’ achievements at their 79th Annual Celebration on October 10 at Stonewall Farm.
