KEENE, N.H. – (MyKeeneNow) A fire at a small cabin in Keene Monday morning resulted in a woman being hospitalized in Boston with severe injuries that a fire official deemed potentially life-threatening.
The Keene Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 508 Washington St. behind Keene Klean laundromat and the Mobil gas station shortly after 11:30 a.m.
The fire occurred in a single-family wood-frame residence owned by the Tousley Charles D. Rev. Trust, according to a news release from the fire department Monday afternoon.
First responders found the woman outside of her residence and she was taken to Cheshire Medical Center. She was later flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston in critical condition.
The Swanzey Fire Department, Spofford Fire Department, and Cheshire County EMS also responded.
The fire caused an estimated $30,000 in structural damage, with the extent of damage to the contents still unknown.
The Keene Fire Department, in conjunction with the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office, is investigating the cause of the fire.
