(MyKeeneNow)– In honor of September being Veteran Appreciation Month, Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD) is teaming up with local farmers’ markets to show gratitude to the region’s veterans. Throughout September, Cheshire County veterans can receive a $20 voucher each week to purchase food at participating farmers’ markets.
The initiative aims to express appreciation to veterans for their service while simultaneously supporting the local farming economy. Veterans are encouraged to visit any of the four markets involved in the program to claim their weekly vouchers.
Participating Farmers’ Markets:
- Hinsdale Farmers’ Market: Riverfront Park on Main St., Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Keene Farmers’ Market: Commercial St. Lot on Gilbo Ave., Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- TEAM Jaffrey Farmer’s Market: Jaffrey Public Library on Main St., Fridays, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Winchester Farmers’ Market: 1 Richmond Rd., Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
How It Works:
Veterans can visit the designated Veterans Booth at any participating market to collect a $20 voucher once per week. To receive the voucher, veterans must present proof of Cheshire County residency and a valid form of Veteran ID. The vouchers can be used to purchase food items only and must be redeemed by the end of September.
Veterans are welcome to return each week in September but are limited to one voucher per week from any single market. The program is available while supplies last, so early participation is encouraged.
Eligible Veteran ID Forms:
- Copy of DD214
- Veteran Healthcare Card
- “Choose VA” Veterans ID card
- NH Driver’s License with Veterans designation
- Retired military ID card
Veterans from the following Cheshire County towns are eligible: Alstead, Chesterfield, Dublin, Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Harrisville, Hinsdale, Jaffrey, Keene, Marlborough, Marlow, Nelson, Richmond, Rindge, Roxbury, Stoddard, Sullivan, Surry, Swanzey, Troy, Walpole, Westmoreland, and Winchester. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or a piece of mail, is required.
