KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) This October, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cheshire Medical Center, part of Dartmouth Health, is urging people to schedule their next mammogram.

A mammogram is an X-ray that helps detect breast cancer and other conditions. Regular screenings make it easier to catch and treat breast disease early, improving the chances for successful treatment.

For those 40 and older, it’s recommended to get a mammogram every one to two years, depending on individual health needs, according to an article from Cheshire Medical Center. Cheshire’s Breast Care Center offers advanced imaging, including 3D mammography for more precise results.

Appointments are available through January 2025, so patients—new or returning—are encouraged to schedule now. To book, call 354-6580.

Uninsured or underinsured individuals may qualify for free screenings through the N.H. Department of Health and Human Services’ Breast & Cervical Cancer Program. Learn more at dhhs.nh.gov/programs-services/disease-prevention/breast-cervical-cancer-program.
