KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) City officials are urging residents to enroll in a new emergency notification system designed to deliver critical information quickly during emergencies.
Keene has transitioned to the State of New Hampshire’s NH Alerts system, which allows local officials to send out emergency messages by phone call, text message, email or TTY. The free service is customizable, giving users the option to register multiple phone numbers, email addresses and locations under a single account.
City officials said the system will be used to share time-sensitive alerts, such as severe weather warnings, public safety incidents or other emergencies where rapid communication is essential. Residents are encouraged to sign up before an emergency occurs to ensure they receive notifications when they are needed most.
Registration is available through the NH Alerts online portal. Some users may find that basic contact information is already preloaded, and password recovery tools are available for those who need assistance accessing an existing account.
The city noted that its current email and text lists for general updates will continue to operate as usual. Officials are also encouraging residents to spread the word by sharing the information with family members, neighbors and tenants to help ensure the community stays informed.
