KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The City of Keene is gearing up for two important elections this fall—a state primary on Sept. 10 and the presidential election on Nov. 5. To ensure smooth and efficient election days, the Keene City Clerk’s office is calling on community members to volunteer.

With a high voter turnout anticipated, the need for volunteers is greater than ever, with more than 100 needed to assist across the city’s five wards, according to a news release.

There are several ways to contribute:

  • Greeters: Volunteers are needed to welcome voters during three-hour shifts.
  • Paper Checklist Reconciliation: Help update the paper checklist as voters check in, with shifts lasting 5 1/2 hours.
  • Election Closeout: Assist the day after the election at City Hall, starting at 9 a.m. to verify voter participation.
  • Party Change-Back Assistance: After the State Primary, volunteers are needed to help voters who wish to switch party affiliation, with shifts available for 5½ hours.
  • Voter Registration Support: During the Presidential election, assist Checklist Supervisors in completing registration forms for new voters, also in 5 1/2-hour shifts.

Patty Little, Keene’s city clerk, expressed her appreciation for the community’s ongoing support: “Our volunteers are the backbone of our elections. Their dedication ensures that everything runs smoothly, and we truly value their contribution. Elections are a critical responsibility, and having reliable volunteers is key to our success.”
