KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) After nearly two decades at the Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD), District Manager Amanda Littleton is preparing to step down. She will leave the organization May 1 to take on a new role as executive Director of the Monadnock Conservancy.

Since taking the helm in 2007, Littleton has played a crucial role in advancing conservation and sustainability efforts in the region. She has helped secure more than $4.5 million in funding to support natural resource protection, local agriculture, and rural communities.

Under her leadership, CCCD has expanded its educational and outreach programs. Farmers have benefited from hands-on training in soil health management, while initiatives like the Monadnock Farm Share Program and Community Supported Solar have improved food access and farm viability. The organization has also worked on habitat restoration projects, including pollinator-friendly plantings and stream conservation efforts.

CCCD Board Chair Andy Pressman praised Littleton’s impact, noting that she has been a key figure in bringing together farmers, foresters, educators, and residents to support conservation. He added that her contributions will have a lasting effect, both locally and beyond, and that the board is excited about the district’s future as it marks its 85th year.

Reflecting on her time with CCCD, Littleton expressed gratitude for the relationships she has built and the knowledge she has gained from working with dedicated community members and farmers. She said she looks forward to carrying these lessons into her new role and continuing to protect the natural resources that make the Monadnock region special.

The conservation district remains committed to its mission and will continue offering grants, workshops, and programs focused on land conservation and sustainable agriculture.
