KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow)   This morning, Dave “OB” O’Brien, NESN snnouncer and voice of the Boston Red Sox, joined Dan Mitchell on WKBK Radio’s Good Morning show to discuss the team’s prospects for the upcoming 2025 season. With significant roster changes and key players stepping up, O’Brien shared his thoughts on what fans can expect as the team gears up for another competitive campaign.

One of the main topics was the arrival of Alex Bregman, who brings a strong connection to the Red Sox and is expected to make an immediate impact. O’Brien also highlighted the pitching staff, which includes promising talents like Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler. Both pitchers are seen as integral parts of the rotation, with Crochet emerging as a potential ace and Buehler working to reclaim his status as one of the league’s best following injury setbacks. Tanner Houck will also play a key role as the third starter.

O’Brien emphasized that the team’s success will depend not only on its pitching staff but also on its defense. Improving defensive capabilities will be crucial if the Red Sox are to compete at the highest level in the American League East.

Offensively, O’Brien is optimistic about the lineup’s potential, with standout players like Rafael Devers and Trevor Story. Devers, now transitioning to the designated hitter position, was a subject of some controversy but O’Brien feels that the change will be manageable. The Red Sox also have a solid first baseman in Triston Casas, rounding out a potent offensive core.

Looking at the bigger picture, O’Brien is bullish on the Red Sox’s chances, predicting they will be a top contender in the American League, especially with the Yankees and other rivals facing challenges. While teams like the Dodgers continue to dominate in the National League, O’Brien believes the Red Sox have the pieces to make a strong push in the AL East.
