TOWNSHEND, VT (MyKeeneNow) – A deputy of the Windham County Sheriff’s office sustained minor injuries in a rollover crash Saturday afternoon.

According to a news release, Deputy Thomas Bessette’s cruiser, a 2019 Ford Interceptor SUV, slid off Route 30 near Stephenson Curve in Townshend shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The cruiser struck a pole, went down a steep embankment, and rolled over.

The crash remains under investigation by Vermont State Police, but the release from the Sheriff’s Office notes that black ice appears to be the preliminary cause.

Bessette was transported to Grace Cottage Hospital by Rescue Inc., where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
