WINCHESTER, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A local man was flown to the hospital Sunday after being found unconscious on Route 10 in what police believe may have been a hit-and-run.

According to Winchester Police Chief David Rice, officers responded around 3:45 p.m. to reports of a person lying in the northbound lane near Pump Road. The 42-year-old man had been riding an electric bicycle and was carrying a backpack full of groceries when he was injured.

Rice said it appears the man may have been sideswiped by a passing vehicle’s mirror while traveling north. Police have not released his name.

Although Rice said he was unsure how serious the injuries were, the man was discharged later the same day.

Police have struggled to identify the vehicle involved. Rice noted that reports have ranged from SUVs to smaller cars.

The incident remains under investigation.
