KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) An excavator being towed by a dump truck overturned at the end of Arch Street Tuesday morning, forcing the closure of the roadway as crews work to assess damage and plan the removal of the equipment.

Police received the call at 8:27 a.m., and officers closed Arch Street at Park Avenue by 8:29 a.m., Sgt. Mark Cotton said. The road remains shut down from Park Avenue to Blossom Street while city crews repair damage to the pavement.

No injuries were reported.

In Troop G Motor Carrier Enforcement of the New Hampshire State Police responded and is investigating the cause of the overturn. J & J Truck Service and Towing of Troy is on scene determining how to safely remove the excavator from the roadway and will handle the recovery.

Officials have not yet provided a timeline for reopening the street or whether buses to Keene High School will be diverted this afternoon.
