KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Fireworks Restaurant, a longtime fixture on Keene’s Main Street, will close its doors this weekend after nearly 14 years in business. The restaurant’s final day of service is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13.

Owner Adam Berube announced the decision Monday, citing the challenges of the current economic climate. In a Facebook post, he thanked customers for their support over the years and said the restaurant’s last dinner service will be held Saturday, Sept. 13.

The Italian-inspired restaurant has weathered ups and downs in recent years. Fireworks previously closed in late 2020, when then-owner Matthew Blau said the financial strain of the COVID-19 pandemic made operations unsustainable. Blau later put the restaurant up for sale after moving abroad.

Berube, who had worked at Fireworks from its opening in 2011 through 2017, purchased the business in 2022 and reopened it that June. At the time, he pledged to bring back the familiar menu of brick-oven pizzas and Italian-American fare while rehiring many former staff members.

Blau, who launched Fireworks in Keene in 2011 after opening the first location in Brattleboro three years earlier, sold the Brattleboro operation in 2016. It now operates as Echo Restaurant and Lounge.

Berube said the friendships, memories, and celebrations hosted at the Keene restaurant will remain meaningful even as the business prepares to close. He also urged residents to continue supporting other downtown establishments.
