PROVIDENCE, R.I. (MyKeeneNow)  Four Keene State College student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference for their achievements accomplished for the week of 3/3-3/9.
Women’s Lacrosse

Freshman midfielder Lola Varricchione (Mansfield, Mass.) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week as she continued her great start to her freshman season for the Owls over the two games on the week. Over the pair of games, she tallied seven points, coming from three goals and an assist against Smith College and a pair of goals and an assist in KSC’s 11-9 win over Western New England University on Saturday. Varricchione also tallied 14 draw controls won over the games, as her nine against SC and five against WNE were both game highs in the contests.
Varricchione and the Owls return to action against the University of Hartford on the road on Wednesday, March 12, at 5:00 PM as KSC looks to improve to 4-1 to start the season.
Men’s Lacrosse
Senior attack Rex Maccarini (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after his performance in the Owls’ 16-14 win over Vassar College for their first win of the 2025 season. In the win, Maccarini tallied a game-high of six points coming from four goals and a pair of assists for KSC. After tallying a goal and an assist in each the first half and the third quarter, Maccarini scored the Owls’ 15th and 16th goals of the day in the fourth quarter, which wound up being the game-deciding goals.
Maccarini and the Owls return to action at Bates College on Tuesday, March 11, at 6:00 PM.
Baseball
Junior infielder, Evan McCue (Waterford, Conn.), was named the LEC Player of the Week from his performance from the Owls’ doubleheader at St. Joseph’s University (L.I.). In the opening game on Saturday, McCue went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base for the Owls. In the second game of the day, the Owls’ 12-0 win for the first win of the season, McCue went 3-for-5 with three doubles, a walk, a run scored, and a single game program record of eight RBIs in the game.
Freshman outfielder, Domminic Tagliaferro (Bedford, N.H.), was named the LEC Rookie of the Week from his performance in KSC’s two games against SJU, in which he made his first two collegiate starts. In his three at bats over seven innings in the first game, Tagliaferro went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and scored a run. In the second game of the day, Tagliaferro went 1-for-4 with another double and a HBP, to go with two runs scored and two RBIs.
McCue, Tagliaferro, and the Owls return to action on Tuesday, March 11, at 6:00 PM against Colby-Sawyer University at the New England Baseball Complex.
