KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Keene residents looking to trim their heating bills and make their homes more comfortable this winter will have a chance to learn how during a free “Button Up” home energy workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Hosted by the Keene Clean Energy Team and the City of Keene Energy and Climate Committee, the event will take place at the Keene Recreation Center, 312 Washington St., in Room 22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the presentation runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Button Up series is part of the statewide NHSaves initiative, a collaboration among New Hampshire’s major utilities—Eversource, Liberty Utilities, NH Electric Cooperative, and Unitil. The workshops are coordinated by the Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative (PAREI), which partners with local organizations to help residents understand how to improve home energy efficiency and access rebates or incentives for upgrades.

Led by a certified energy auditor, the 90-minute program explains how homes lose and retain heat, and offers practical steps for air sealing, insulation, and energy-efficient heating and cooling. Participants will also learn about utility rebates available for weatherization projects and efficient appliances.

Local organizer Catherine Owen Koning said in a news release the workshop offers valuable, actionable information for homeowners feeling the pinch of rising energy prices.

“With the high cost of energy, efficiency is now more important than ever,” Koning said. “This program helps people find ways to save money, stay comfortable, and take advantage of funding that can make improvements more affordable.”

No registration is required to attend the Keene session. For details about this or other NHSaves Button Up workshops, visit plymouthenergy.org/button-up or email Koning at koningc@franklinpierce.edu.
