KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) An attached garage on Blake Street was destroyed Tuesday morning after a fire broke out and quickly overtook the structure, according to the Keene Fire Department.

Crews responded to 22 Blake St. around 9:10 a.m. for a report of a garage fire and arrived to find the three-bay building fully engulfed, Deputy Fire Chief Gregory Seymour said.

A second alarm was struck, bringing additional engines, ladders, and a heavy rescue
company to the scene, according to a news release.

Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the blaze by about 9:40 a.m.

Three people were inside the adjacent home, which serves as single-unit off-campus student housing, at the time of the fire. All evacuated safely on their own, and no injuries were reported.

A wooden fence sustained damage, but nearby buildings were not affected. Crews placed containment booms to manage oil and fluid runoff from the garage.

Seymour said the garage, used for storage, is considered a total loss – the exact damage amount is $150,000. No vehicles were inside. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
